CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum for the conference tournament will meet when the Charlotte 49ers visit the Florida Atlantic Owls in a women’s American Athletic Conference basketball game Tuesday night. The matchup at FAU Gymnasium in Boca Raton, Florida, features teams with identical 12-15 overall records. Both are looking to break out of recent slumps, with Charlotte having lost two straight and Florida Atlantic dropping its last two contests. The 49ers will rely on guard Tanajah Hayes, who is coming off a 23-point performance in a 73-82 loss to North Texas on Saturday. Over her last seven games, Hayes has averaged 12.1 points and 5.1 assists, including a 10-assist outing in a win at Memphis on Feb. 14. The Owls counter with guard Jess Moors, who has been a consistent distributor. She dished out 10 assists in a loss at East Carolina on Feb. 17 and followed with six assists and seven points against South Florida last Saturday. In a Jan. 27 meeting at Tulsa, Moors scored a season-high 15 points. Charlotte won the season’s first meeting decisively, 77-56, at home on Jan. 20. In that game, the 49ers held Florida Atlantic to 30.6% shooting from the field. Since that loss, the Owls have gone 4-4, including an overtime road win at Wichita State. Charlotte has posted a 3-5 record over the same stretch. Both teams have struggled for consistency in February, making this a pivotal game for seeding in the upcoming AAC tournament. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. EST tip-off on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026.
