ATLANTA (Interstat) — Two Sun Belt women’s basketball teams seeking momentum for the conference tournament will meet Tuesday when the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers visit the Georgia State Panthers. The game at GSU Sports Arena features teams with a combined 22-35 overall record. Coastal Carolina (13-16) enters having lost three of its last four, including a 73-60 home defeat to Old Dominion on Saturday. Georgia State (9-19) has lost five straight, most recently an 82-75 home loss to Marshall on Saturday. The Panthers won the season’s first meeting, 68-63, in Conway, South Carolina, on Dec. 20. A key matchup will be in the frontcourt, where Coastal Carolina’s Tracey Hueston has been a consistent force. The forward is coming off a 16-point, five-block performance against Old Dominion and averaged 11.4 points and 6.4 rebounds over her last eight games. Her interior presence will challenge a Georgia State team that has struggled defensively during its skid. The Panthers will counter with guard Crystal Henderson, their primary offensive catalyst. Henderson has scored in double figures in 12 consecutive games, averaging 17.8 points over her last five. She tallied 16 points and five assists in the loss to Marshall. Coastal Carolina’s recent results have been uneven, mixing a narrow 65-64 win over Appalachian State with several double-digit losses. Georgia State’s losing streak includes four losses by 10 or more points, highlighting difficulties on both ends of the floor. With the Sun Belt tournament approaching, both teams are looking to stabilize. A win for Coastal Carolina would bolster its seeding, while Georgia State aims to snap its slide and build confidence before hosting Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday.
