INDIANAPOLIS (Interstat) — Two Horizon League women’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Sunday when the IU Indy Jaguars host the Detroit Mercy Titans at Fairgrounds Coliseum. The Jaguars (11-15) enter with the better record, but have lost two straight, including a 74-45 road defeat to Cleveland State on Thursday. The Titans (5-21) have lost five of their last six, most recently falling 66-55 to Robert Morris at home on Thursday. Detroit will look to build on its 74-69 victory over IU Indy from Dec. 7 in the teams’ first meeting this season. In that game, the Titans overcame a second-half deficit for a road win. A key player for Detroit is Jasmine Edwards, who has been a consistent performer. Over her last five games, Edwards is averaging 12.6 points and 7.4 rebounds, including a 22-point effort against Wright State on Feb. 12 and a 14-rebound, 11-point double-double in a win at Oakland on Feb. 7. For IU Indy, guard Nevaeh Foster has been a primary offensive threat. She has scored in double figures in six of her last seven contests, averaging 15.0 points per game in that stretch. Foster posted 22 points in a win over Cleveland State on Feb. 4 and 20 points in a close loss to Youngstown State on Feb. 15. The Jaguars have been stronger at home in conference play, having won three of their last four at Fairgrounds Coliseum, including victories over Oakland and Cleveland State in early February. Detroit has struggled on the road, with a 2-11 record away from home this season. Following this matchup, IU Indy travels to face first-place Green Bay on Wednesday. Detroit continues its road swing at Youngstown State on Wednesday. Sunday’s tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
