Preview: Texas Southern Lady Tigers at Mississippi Valley State Devilettes AVALON, Miss. (Interstat) â Two Southwestern Athletic Conference womenâs basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Texas Southern Lady Tigers visit the Mississippi Valley State Devilettes at LeFlore County Civic Center. Texas Southern (9-17) enters on a five-game skid but holds a 72-62 home win over Mississippi Valley State (5-19) from Jan. 8. The Devilettes, however, are coming off one of their best performances of the season, a 67-45 road victory at Prairie View on Thursday. The matchup features two of the SWACâs top guards. Texas Southern is led by Taliyah Logwood, who is averaging 21.2 points over her last five games. She erupted for 32 points in a narrow 68-62 loss at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday. Her scoring prowess will be central to the Lady Tigersâ hopes of snapping their losing streak. Mississippi Valley State counters with Jaeda Murphy, a versatile playmaker who posted 11 points and five assists in the win over Prairie View. Murphy has been a consistent facilitator, recording five or more assists in three of her last seven contests. While Texas Southern boasts the head-to-head victory earlier this season and a better overall record, both teams have struggled in conference play. The Devilettesâ recent blowout win could provide a spark as they return home. The game will be a test of Texas Southernâs ability to contain Murphyâs distribution and capitalize on Logwoodâs hot hand, while Mississippi Valley State will look to build defensive pressure to extend the Lady Tigersâ losing streak. Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, in Avalon.
