FULLERTON, Calif. (Interstat) β A dramatic, double-overtime thriller from just two weeks ago sets the stage for the rematch as Cal State Bakersfield visits Cal State Fullerton in a Big West womenβs basketball game Saturday at Titan Gymnasium. The Titans (15-10 overall) outlasted the Roadrunners (7-17) 92-87 in that marathon contest on Feb. 7 in Bakersfield. Cal State Fullerton has won three of its last five games since, including a 70-62 victory over Long Beach State, but is coming off a 77-71 home loss to UC Irvine on Feb. 14. Guard Kya Pearson, who had five points and four assists in the first meeting, leads the Titans. She is averaging 15.2 points and 4.5 assists over her last six games, including a 21-point, 4-assist performance in the win over Long Beach State. Cal State Bakersfield has lost four straight, most recently a 61-54 defeat at Hawaii on Feb. 12. The Roadrunners will lean on guard Chrishawn Coleman, who torched the Titans for 22 points in the first matchup. Coleman has been a bright spot, scoring 16 or more points in three of her last five games, including a 23-point effort in a win at Cal Poly on Jan. 29. The Titans have relied on a balanced attack, with Cristina Jones and Dylan Swindle providing consistent scoring alongside Pearson. For Bakersfield, support for Coleman has come from Marley Langi, who scored 16 points alongside Coleman in the loss at Hawaii. With the conference tournament approaching, the Titans look to solidify their standing, while the Roadrunners aim to snap their skid and avenge their earlier overtime heartbreak. Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon.
