Preview: Butler Looks to Snap Skid Against Georgetown in Big East Matchup WASHINGTON (Interstat) â The Georgetown womenâs basketball team will look to move above .500 and complete a regular-season sweep when it hosts struggling Butler in a Big East Conference game Saturday at Capital One Arena. The Hoyas (13-13, 4-9 Big East) edged Saint Johnâs 62-60 on Wednesday, powered by a 22-point performance from Brianna Scott. Scott has been a key offensive variable for Georgetown, scoring 17 or more points in three of her last six games, including a 21-point, eight-rebound effort in a win over Xavier last month. Butler (9-18, 2-11) arrives in the nationâs capital mired in a seven-game losing streak, most recently a 58-47 home loss to Saint Johnâs on Feb. 14. The Bulldogsâ last win was a 73-67 victory over DePaul on Jan. 21. A bright spot for the Bulldogs has been the play of McKenna Johnson, who is coming off an 18-point performance in a loss to Creighton on Feb. 18. Johnson has averaged 10.1 points per game over her last seven contests. Georgetown won the first meeting this season, 63-46, at Butler on Jan. 7. In that game, the Hoyasâ defense held the Bulldogs to 29.1% shooting from the field. Butler will need to find consistent offense beyond Johnson to challenge a Georgetown team that has shown resilience in close games, with four of its last six contests decided by seven points or fewer. The Hoyas have won two of their last three at home. Following this matchup, Georgetown faces a quick turnaround with a road game at Connecticut on Thursday. Butler continues its road trip at DePaul on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
