Preview: UAB Women’s Basketball at Tulsa TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) — The Tulsa women’s basketball team looks to solidify its position in the American Athletic Conference standings Friday when it hosts UAB at the Donald Reynolds Center. The Golden Hurricane (16-9) have dropped three straight, including a 61-55 road loss to Florida Atlantic on Feb. 14, but remain above .500 in league play. Tulsa will rely on forward Jade Clack, who recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in that defeat. Clack has been a consistent interior presence, averaging a double-double over her last five games. The visiting UAB Blazers (10-15) are seeking to halt a two-game skid after a lopsided 84-54 loss at North Texas on Tuesday. Guard Sofia Munoz leads the Blazers’ backcourt, averaging 12.2 points and 3.3 assists over her last six contests. She scored 19 points in a Jan. 24 matchup against East Carolina, highlighting her scoring potential. This matchup presents a contrast in momentum. Tulsa started February with a strong 75-65 win at Wichita State and a double-overtime victory over Memphis before its recent slide. UAB has struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over its past seven games. A key battle will be inside, where Tulsa’s Clack and Hannah Riddick, who had 17 points and 11 rebounds against FAU, will test UAB’s frontcourt. The Blazers will need a significant performance from Molly Moffitt, who scored a team-high 15 points in the loss to North Texas, to counter Tulsa’s size. The Golden Hurricane won the first meeting this season, 72-60, in Birmingham on Jan. 6. Tulsa has won four of the last five matchups between the programs. Friday’s game tips off at 7 p.m. CST. Tulsa will host Tulane on Tuesday, while UAB returns home to face Wichita State on Feb. 25.
