JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Interstat) — Two teams jockeying for position in the Southern Conference will meet Thursday when the East Tennessee State Lady Buccaneers host the UNC Greensboro Spartans in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game. The matchup at ETSU Athletic Center features teams with nearly identical records. The visiting Spartans are 13-13 overall, while the home-standing Lady Buccaneers are 13-12. Both will look to build momentum for the final stretch of the regular season. East Tennessee State won the first meeting this season, 58-48, in Greensboro on Jan. 24. In that game, ETSU’s Daniela López scored 18 points, while UNC Greensboro’s Makiah Asidanya was held to six points. López is coming off a career performance, scoring 28 points and grabbing six rebounds in a 91-90 double-overtime road win at Chattanooga on Feb. 14. The guard has been a consistent scorer for ETSU, which has won four of its last six games. For the Spartans, Asidanya will be a key factor as they seek to snap a four-game losing skid. The guard is averaging 11.7 points over her last three contests, including a 17-point effort in a narrow 63-61 home loss to Furman on Feb. 14. UNC Greensboro’s defense, which allowed just 46 points in a win over Western Carolina on Feb. 1, will need to contain López and the ETSU offense. The Lady Buccaneers have found success recently at home, winning three of their last four at ETSU Athletic Center. The Spartans, however, have struggled on the road in conference play. Tipoff is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026. Following this game, ETSU will host Western Carolina on Saturday, while UNC Greensboro travels to face Chattanooga.
