Preview: Nebraska Cornhuskers at Oregon Ducks EUGENE, Ore. (Interstat) — Two Big Ten women’s basketball teams looking to halt late-season slides will meet Thursday when the Nebraska Cornhuskers visit the Oregon Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena. The Cornhuskers (16-9) arrive having lost five consecutive games, including an 80-67 defeat to Iowa on Monday. Nebraska’s defense has struggled during the skid, allowing an average of 84 points per contest. Nebraska will rely on forward Eliza Maupin to help reverse its fortunes. Maupin is coming off an 11-point, six-rebound performance against Iowa and scored 13 points in a narrow loss to Wisconsin last month. Her consistency will be key for a team searching for momentum. Oregon (18-9) has also hit a rough patch, dropping its last two games. The Ducks fell 51-43 at Washington on Sunday, a game in which their offense managed a season-low point total. Prior to the recent losses, Oregon had won four straight conference games. Freshman guard Sarah Rambus provides a spark for the Ducks. She tallied 12 points off the bench against Washington and exploded for a season-high 20 points in a win over Penn State on Jan. 24. Her scoring punch will be vital against a Nebraska team vulnerable on defense. The matchup pits Nebraska’s recent offensive struggles against an Oregon team coming off its worst shooting performance of the season. The Ducks will aim to exploit their home court advantage, where they are 11-3 this season. This contest is the only scheduled meeting between the programs this season. Following this game, Nebraska continues its road trip at Washington on Sunday. Oregon will hit the road for games at Indiana and Purdue. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. EST Thursday at Matthew Knight Arena.
