CLEVELAND (Interstat) — A pivotal Horizon League rematch awaits Thursday when the Cleveland State Vikings host the IU Indy Jaguars in women’s basketball at Wolstein Center. The Vikings (20-8 overall), near the top of the conference standings, seek to avenge a 78-70 road loss to the Jaguars on Feb. 4. Cleveland State has since won three straight, including a 57-52 defensive battle at Robert Morris on Saturday. Izabella Zingaro, a dominant force for the Vikings, posted a double-double in that win with 14 points and 10 rebounds. In the earlier loss to IU Indy, Zingaro scored a team-high 24 points. The Jaguars (11-14) have shown they can compete with the league’s best, evidenced by their February win over Cleveland State and a victory over Wright State. However, they enter on a one-game skid, falling 69-65 to Youngstown State on Sunday. In that contest, Destini Craig recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for IU Indy. Craig has been instrumental for the Jaguars, averaging 12.4 points over her last seven games. She scored 19 points in the Feb. 4 win over the Vikings. Containing her will be a key focus for a Cleveland State defense that has held opponents to an average of 57.3 points during its current win streak. The matchup features a contrast in styles and momentum. Cleveland State, boasting a strong season record, aims to protect its home court and solidify its conference positioning. IU Indy, despite its sub-.500 record, has proven a tough out and will look to replicate its earlier success by sweeping the season series. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST Thursday. Cleveland State travels to Wright State next on Feb. 25, while IU Indy hosts Detroit on Feb. 22.
