Preview: Georgia Tech at Pittsburgh Women’s Basketball PITTSBURGH (Interstat) — Two Atlantic Coast Conference teams seeking momentum will meet Thursday when the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets visit the Pittsburgh Panthers. The game at Petersen Events Center will feature teams with struggling overall records. Georgia Tech enters at 11-15, while Pittsburgh sits at 8-19. The Yellow Jackets are looking to rebound from a heartbreaking 67-65 double-overtime loss at Clemson on Feb. 12. Guard Erica Moon led Georgia Tech with 20 points in 39 minutes during that defeat. Moon has been a key contributor, including a 12-point, six-rebound, five-assist performance in a 74-52 win over Stanford on Feb. 8. Pittsburgh is coming off a narrow 79-78 loss at SMU on Feb. 15, a game in which guard Theresa Hagans exploded for 33 points and six assists. Hagans has been a consistent offensive force for the Panthers, scoring 19 or more points in three of her last five games. Despite their records, both teams have shown recent flashes. Georgia Tech has conference wins over Stanford, Florida State and Boston College since late January. Pittsburgh’s lone victory in its last 10 games was a 64-61 win at Boston College on Jan. 4, but the Panthers have been competitive, with four of their last five losses coming by 11 points or fewer. The matchup will pit Georgia Tech’s search for consistency against a Pittsburgh team reliant on Hagans’ high-scoring outputs. The Panthers will need to find an answer for Moon, who facilitates the Yellow Jackets’ offense. This is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this season. Following Thursday’s game, Georgia Tech will visit Virginia Tech on Sunday. Pittsburgh will travel to face North Carolina on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
