Preview: Delaware at Florida International Women’s Basketball WESTCHESTER, Fla. (Interstat) — A quick rematch with potential conference tournament seeding implications is set for Thursday when the Delaware Blue Hens visit the Florida International Golden Panthers. The Conference USA matchup at Ocean Bank Convocation Center comes just 18 days after the teams met in Newark, Del., where Delaware (12-13) edged Florida International (15-9) 51-48 on Feb. 1. The Golden Panthers, holding the better overall record, will look to defend their home court and avenge that narrow loss. They are coming off a 67-65 road victory at Sam Houston on Saturday, fueled by a standout performance from Rhema Collins. The forward scored 24 points and blocked four shots in that win. Collins has been a consistent force for FIU. In the earlier loss to Delaware, she nearly posted a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Her recent play, including a 16-point effort in a rout of Western Kentucky on Feb. 5, makes her a focal point for the Blue Hens’ defense. Delaware, however, has proven it can stifle the Golden Panthers. The Blue Hens are looking to bounce back from a 79-72 home loss to UTEP last Saturday, a game in which guard Kailah Correa scored 16 points with five rebounds and four assists. Correa has been a key contributor for Delaware. She logged 41 minutes in an overtime win at Kennesaw State on Feb. 5 and scored 10 points in a road win at Western Kentucky last month. Her ability to manage the game will be critical against FIU’s pressure. The recent head-to-head result suggests another tight, defensive contest. Delaware’s three-point victory earlier this month was its lowest offensive output in a win this season. Following this game, Delaware travels to face Missouri State on Saturday. Florida International remains at home to host Liberty the same day. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Thursday at Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
