TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Interstat) — A California team seeking consistency will face a Florida State squad desperate for a turnaround when the Golden Bears visit the Seminoles in a nonconference women’s basketball game Thursday. The matchup, organized by the Atlantic Coast Conference, tips off at the Donald L. Tucker Center. California (16-11) arrives after a stumble, falling 68-58 to Virginia Tech on Sunday. That loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Golden Bears, who had previously secured victories over Virginia, Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech. Their recent form has been buoyed by the play of guard Gisella Maul, who is averaging 14.6 points over her last seven games. Maul posted a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds in a win at Pittsburgh on Feb. 8. Florida State (9-17) has struggled for results, dropping four of its last five. The Seminoles are coming off an 88-65 road loss to Louisville. Their offense will run through guard SolĆØ Williams, who has scored 19 or more points in three of her last five outings, including a 23-point performance in a win over Boston College on Feb. 12. The Golden Bears have shown resilience in close games, including an overtime win over Stanford on Jan. 25, but have been prone to offensive droughts. Florida State’s defense has been a season-long issue, allowing 80 or more points in seven losses. This game represents a critical opportunity for both. California aims to solidify its postseason resume, while Florida State looks to salvage pride and build momentum before hosting Stanford on Sunday. For California, support for Maul will be key; Aliyahna Morris added 15 points in the loss to Virginia Tech. Florida State will need more from its frontcourt to complement Williams’ scoring, as Allie Kubek’s 18 points against Louisville showed potential. The game is scheduled for Thursday, February 19, 2026.
