Preview: South Carolina Upstate at Radford (Women’s Basketball) FAIRLAWN, Va. (Interstat) — The Radford Highlanders, riding a wave of strong conference play, will host the struggling South Carolina Upstate Spartans in a Big South women’s basketball matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at the D.N. Dedmon Center. Radford (17-10 overall) enters with significant momentum, having won five of its last six games. That stretch includes a dominant 73-45 road victory at UNC Asheville on Feb. 11. The Highlanders’ success is fueled by guard Joi Williams, who is coming off a 19-point, 6-assist performance in that win. Williams also scored 11 points in just 25 minutes during Radford’s 67-29 rout of these same Spartans less than a month ago, on Jan. 28. South Carolina Upstate (8-18) seeks to reverse a season of difficulties and find revenge for that lopsided loss. The Spartans have dropped three of their last four, including a 57-63 home defeat to UNC Asheville on Feb. 14. Their offense consistently runs through guard Cassie Gallagher, who poured in 22 points in that most recent outing. Gallagher averages over 18 points per game in her last seven contests, though she was held to just 7 points on 3-of-15 shooting in the January meeting with Radford. The Highlanders have established themselves as a defensive force in the conference, a fact underscored by their historic defensive performance against Upstate earlier this season. Containing Gallagher will again be a primary focus. For the Spartans, generating offense beyond their star guard and improving upon their 29-point showing from the previous matchup are absolute necessities to be competitive. Radford currently sits near the top of the Big South standings, while South Carolina Upstate is near the bottom. The Highlanders will look to protect their home court and solidify their postseason positioning, while the Spartans aim to play spoiler and build positive momentum for the final stretch of the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for Wednesday night in Fairlawn.
