ORANGEBURG, S.C. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in the final stretch of the regular season will meet Wednesday when the North Carolina Central Eagles visit the South Carolina State Bulldogs in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women’s basketball matchup. The game, scheduled for Feb. 18, 2026, at the SHM Memorial Center, features programs with a combined 12-35 overall record. South Carolina State (5-19) enters on a five-game losing streak, most recently a 73-47 home loss to Morgan State on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled offensively during the skid, failing to reach 55 points in four of those contests. North Carolina Central (7-16) aims to bounce back from a 75-68 home loss to Coppin State this past Saturday. Prior to that, the Eagles had won three of their previous four games, including a 66-63 overtime victory against Morgan State. A key matchup will feature each team’s top scoring threat. For the Eagles, junior forward Morgan Callahan has been a consistent force, averaging 12.8 points and 7.0 rebounds over her last six games. She is coming off an 11-point, 8-rebound, 3-assist performance against Coppin State and scored 22 points in the overtime win over Morgan State. The Bulldogs will counter with guard Shaunice Reed, who has provided scoring punch despite the team’s struggles. Reed poured in 17 points in the loss to Morgan State and is averaging 12.4 points over her last five outings. Defensive intensity may prove decisive. In their first meeting this season, scheduled for March 5 in Durham, the Eagles will look to capitalize on a Bulldogs squad allowing an average of 72.3 points per game. South Carolina State, however, will hope home-court advantage can spark a reversal, as both teams jockey for positioning ahead of the MEAC tournament. Following this contest, North Carolina Central travels to face Howard on Saturday, while South Carolina State visits Norfolk State.
