LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — A matchup of teams heading in opposite directions will unfold Wednesday night at Knights Hall when the North Alabama Lions visit the Bellarmine Knights in an ASUN Conference women’s basketball game. North Alabama (13-12) enters the contest looking to solidify its position in the conference standings and rebound from a 73-56 road loss at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. The Lions had won three of their previous four games before that defeat. Bellarmine (2-25) seeks to end a prolonged slump, carrying a 12-game losing streak into Wednesday’s action. The Knights are coming off a particularly difficult 85-37 home loss to Central Arkansas. The Lions will lean on guard Alexsandra Alvarado, who has been a consistent offensive force. She is averaging 17.1 points over her last seven games, including a 23-point, 4-rebound, 4-assist performance in a win at Queens (N.C.) on Feb. 7. In the Lions’ most recent outing, she logged 14 points and five rebounds in 38 minutes. For the struggling Knights, forward Kayce Hyman has been a bright spot, scoring in double figures in five of her last eight games. She led Bellarmine with 16 points and five rebounds in the loss to Central Arkansas. The teams met earlier this season in Florence, Alabama, with North Alabama securing a 67-52 victory on Jan. 10. The Lions have won four of their last six games overall, while Bellarmine’s last win came on Dec. 30, 2025. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday at Knights Hall. Following this game, North Alabama will host Lipscomb on Saturday. Bellarmine will hit the road for a Saturday matchup at Austin Peay.
