Preview: Davidson Wildcats at VCU Rams RICHMOND, Va. (Interstat) — The Davidson Wildcats visit the VCU Rams on Wednesday in an Atlantic 10 women’s basketball matchup at the Siegel Center. Davidson (15-11) enters with a winning record but seeks to halt a recent slide, having lost four of its last five games. That stretch includes a 65-43 home loss to Richmond on Saturday. The Wildcats will look to replicate their performance from Jan. 24, when they defeated VCU 66-51. VCU (8-18) has struggled throughout the season and carries a four-game losing streak into the contest. The Rams fell 64-53 to Saint Bonaventure at home on Saturday. A key player for Davidson is guard Ines Garcia Monje. In the Jan. 24 win over VCU, she contributed 5 points and 3 assists in 21 minutes. However, she is coming off a 32-minute performance in the loss to Richmond where she scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. For VCU, forward Katarina Knezevic will be a focal point. She recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Saint Bonaventure. In the earlier loss to Davidson, she was limited to 3 points in 18 minutes. Davidson’s recent results include a 68-58 win over George Washington on Feb. 7, but also road losses at Saint Bonaventure and Saint Joseph’s. VCU’s last victory was a 69-58 win over Fordham on Jan. 28. Following this game, Davidson will host Dayton on Saturday. VCU will travel to face Duquesne on Saturday. Wednesday’s tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST at VCU’s Siegel Center.
