Preview: Creighton Bluejays at Butler Bulldogs INDIANAPOLIS (Interstat) — Two Big East women’s basketball teams looking to halt slides will meet Wednesday when the Butler Bulldogs host the Creighton Bluejays at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Creighton (12-14) enters having lost two straight, including a 74-64 home defeat to Villanova on Sunday. The Bluejays’ offense has been inconsistent, following a 44-point outing in a loss at Connecticut with an 80-74 overtime win over Marquette just three days prior. Butler (9-17) has lost six consecutive games, most recently a 58-47 home loss to Saint John’s on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled to score during the skid, failing to reach 65 points in any of the six defeats. The matchup will feature a key battle in the post. Creighton’s Grace Boffeli is coming off a 10-point, 13-rebound performance against Villanova, her third double-double in the last eight games. The forward is averaging 12.9 points and 8.4 rebounds over that stretch. For Butler, forward Saniya Jackson has been a steady presence, averaging 9.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game during the team’s losing streak. She posted 22 points in Butler’s last victory, a 73-67 win over DePaul on Jan. 21. In the teams’ first meeting this season, Creighton secured a 67-59 home win on Jan. 4. The Bluejays have won the last four head-to-head matchups. Both teams are seeking momentum with the Big East tournament approaching. Creighton currently sits in the middle of the conference standings, while Butler is near the bottom. A win for the Bulldogs would provide a crucial boost before a road trip to Georgetown on Saturday. The Bluejays aim to right themselves before returning home to host Providence next week. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.
