GREENVILLE, N.C. (Interstat) — A surging East Carolina squad looks to continue its push near the top of the American Athletic Conference standings when it hosts a Florida Atlantic team finding its footing Tuesday night at Williams Arena. The Pirates (19-7, 8-3 AAC) have won five of their last six games, including a 79-73 road victory at Temple on Saturday. Anzhane’ Hutton has been a consistent force, averaging 14.3 points and 5.3 rebounds over her last seven contests. She scored 19 points with five rebounds in the win over the Owls. East Carolina’s defense has been key, holding opponents to 62.8 points per game in conference play. They will face a Florida Atlantic (12-13, 5-7) team that has won three straight, most recently a 61-55 home win over Tulsa. The Owls have shown resilience, including a 79-77 overtime road win at Wichita State on Feb. 10. FAU guard Destyne Jackson is coming off a team-high 16-point performance against Tulsa and will be central to the visitors’ offense. Vivian Onugha provides an inside presence, posting 10 points and eight rebounds in the same game. The matchup pits East Carolina’s conference-best scoring defense against an FAU offense that has found rhythm during its win streak. The Pirates won the season’s first meeting 77-58 in Greenville on Jan. 27, where Hutton had nine points and two blocks. With four regular-season games remaining, East Carolina aims to solidify its postseason positioning, while Florida Atlantic seeks to climb above .500 in league play and build momentum for the conference tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
