PROVO, Utah (Interstat) — The Cincinnati Bearcats visit the Marriott Center on Tuesday night to face the BYU Cougars in a Big 12 women’s basketball matchup featuring teams heading in opposite directions. BYU (18-9) looks to solidify its postseason resume and rebound from a tough 76-46 road loss at Colorado last Saturday. The Cougars had won three of four prior to that defeat, including an 83-69 home victory over Iowa State on Feb. 10. They are 11-3 at home this season. Cincinnati (9-17) seeks to snap a two-game skid after falling 67-59 at Utah on Saturday. The Bearcats have lost five of their last six games and are just 2-9 in true road contests. A key matchup will feature two of the conference’s top guards. Cincinnati sophomore Caliyah DeVillasee has been a bright spot, averaging 15.1 points over her last seven games. She scored 21 points in a narrow loss at Houston on Feb. 1 and is coming off a 13-point, 5-assist performance at Utah. BYU will counter with senior guard Delaney Gibb, a versatile playmaker. Gibb is averaging 14.6 points in her last eight outings, highlighted by a 28-point effort in a loss to West Virginia on Jan. 24 and a near triple-double (8 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists) in a win over Utah on Jan. 31. The Bearcats won the season’s first meeting 66-64 in Cincinnati on Jan. 3, fueled by a 22-point performance from Kylie Torrence. BYU’ Olivia Hamlin, who led the Cougars with 14 points in the loss to Colorado, scored 18 in that first game. For Cincinnati, containing Gibb and improving its road defense will be critical. The Bearcats allow 74.2 points per game on the road. BYU aims to leverage its home-court advantage and efficient offense, which averages 72.3 points at the Marriott Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST. The game will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. UP NEXT: Cincinnati: Hosts UCF on Saturday. BYU: Visits Utah on Saturday in a key rivalry rematch.
