Preview: Virginia Cavaliers at Stanford Cardinal PALO ALTO, Calif. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to rebound from midweek losses will meet Sunday when the Virginia women’s basketball team visits Stanford in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup at Maples Pavilion. The Cavaliers (17-8) fell 64-58 at California on Thursday, snapping a two-game winning streak. Virginia guard Kymora Johnson, the team’s dynamic offensive engine, was held to 10 points in that contest but dished out eight assists. Johnson has been prolific recently, including a 29-point effort in a win over Notre Dame on Feb. 8 and a 26-point, 9-assist performance in a narrow loss to North Carolina State on Jan. 24. Stanford (16-10) is also seeking to end a skid, having lost three of its last four, including a 79-67 home defeat to Virginia Tech on Thursday. The Cardinal will lean on guard Chloe Clardy, who scored 20 points in that loss and poured in 26 in a road win at Pittsburgh on Feb. 5. Virginia’s offense runs through Johnson, who averages over 37 minutes per game and has shown the ability to score and facilitate at a high volume. Stanford will counter with Clardy, a consistent scoring threat who has logged heavy minutes during conference play. The Cavaliers have demonstrated resilience in close games this season, winning in triple-overtime at Wake Forest and losing in overtime to NC State. Stanford has struggled in tight contests, with four of its last six losses coming by single digits, including an overtime defeat at California. This game represents a key opportunity for both teams to improve their conference standing and postseason résumé before the final stretch of the regular season. Tipoff is set for Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026.
