Preview: NC State Wolfpack at Notre Dame Fightinā Irish SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Interstat) ā A pivotal Atlantic Coast Conference womenās basketball matchup featuring two of the leagueās most dynamic guards will unfold Sunday when the North Carolina State Wolfpack visit the Notre Dame Fightinā Irish at Purcell Pavilion. The Wolfpack (17-7, 7-4 ACC), coming off an 82-62 road win at Virginia Tech, will look to continue their momentum against a Notre Dame squad (15-9, 6-5) seeking to rebound from a loss at Virginia. The spotlight will be fixed on the backcourt, where NC Stateās Zoe Brooks and Notre Dameās Hannah Hidalgo are poised for a high-stakes duel. Brooks is averaging 21.7 points over her last six games, including a 37-point outburst in a Jan. 24 overtime win at Virginia. The sophomore guard is coming off a 25-point, five-rebound, five-assist performance against the Hokies. Hidalgo, a relentless two-way force for the Irish, has been equally prolific. She averaged 24.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.7 assists over her last seven contests, highlighted by a 37-point, nine-rebound effort in a win at Stanford on Feb. 1. In the teamsā most recent game, a loss at Virginia, Hidalgo filled the stat sheet with 24 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. NC State has won four of its last five, with its only loss in that stretch a narrow 61-59 defeat to North Carolina. The Wolfpackās offense has been potent, scoring 83 or more points in three of those five games. Notre Dameās form has been more inconsistent, alternating wins and losses over its past six outings. The Irish will rely on home-court advantage at Joyce Center, where they are 10-2 this season, to stabilize their conference standing. Beyond the star guards, NC Stateās Khamil Pierre provides a major interior presence, coming off a 25-point, 12-reouble double at Virginia Tech. Notre Dame will counter with supporting scorers like Iyana Moore, who had 17 points against Virginia. Sundayās result will carry significant weight for ACC Tournament seeding, with both teams jockeying for position in the upper half of the league table. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. EST.
