Extended Summary
NEWTON, Mass. (Interstat) â Ra Shaya Kyle scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Miami to an 82-70 victory over Boston College in Atlantic Coast Conference womenâs basketball on Sunday at Silvio O. Conte Forum. The Hurricanes (13-12, 4-8 ACC) snapped a two-game skid by building a commanding early lead and withstanding a third-quarter push from the Eagles (4-24, 0-13). Kyle, a 6-foot-6 junior from Marion, Indiana, dominated the interior, shooting 11 of 14 from the field and adding three assists in 30 minutes. Her double-double was her second in three games. Miami seized control from the opening tip, starting the game on a 13-4 run. Ahnay Adams, a freshman guard from nearby New Bedford, Massachusetts, ignited the surge with a 3-pointer and a layup. The Hurricanes shot 50% in the first quarter and led 20-14 after one period. They extended their advantage in the second, using a 12-3 run to open a 38-20 lead with 5:50 remaining before halftime. Kyle was instrumental during the stretch, scoring six points on easy looks inside. The most important part of the game came in the second quarter, where Miami effectively put the contest out of reach. After Boston College closed to within 17-14 early in the period, the Hurricanes unleashed a decisive 24-6 surge over the next seven minutes. The run featured a balanced attack, with Kyle scoring inside, Natalie Wetzel and Vittoria Blasigh hitting from the perimeter, and the defense forcing several Eagles turnovers. Miami scored 21 points off 15 Boston College turnovers for the game, with 12 of those points coming in the first half. The Hurricanes led 46-29 at intermission, having shot 51.4% from the field and 6 of 13 from 3-point range in the half. Boston College showed resilience after the break, opening the third quarter with an 11-4 run to cut the deficit to 50-40. Lily Carmody, who led the Eagles with 21 points, and Amirah Anderson, who scored 14, fueled the comeback attempt. The Eagles outscored Miami 21-16 in the period, trimming the lead to 62-50 entering the fourth. Any hope of a complete comeback was extinguished early in the final quarter. Miami opened with a 7-3 spurt, capped by a Gal Raviv-assisted 3-pointer from Adams, to push the lead back to 69-53 with 8:07 to play. Boston College never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way. Raviv, a guard from Netanya, Israel, directed the Miami offense with nine assists. The Hurricanesâ efficiency was the story, as they scored 82 points on just 70 possessions for an offensive rating of 116.6. They shot 50.7% from the field (34 of 67) and 40.7% from 3-point range (11 of 27). Their work inside was decisive, outscoring Boston College 38-26 in the paint. Adams finished with 15 points and seven rebounds for Miami. Wetzel added 14 points, all in the first half, on 6-of-8 shooting. Danielle Osho provided a spark off the bench with eight points in nine minutes. For Boston College, Carmody added five rebounds and three assists to her 21 points.
