RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Interstat) ā A surging California Baptist looks to complete a regular-season sweep and extend its winning streak when it hosts struggling Utah Tech in a Western Athletic Conference womenās basketball game Saturday. The Lancers (16-8, 8-3 WAC) have won four straight, including a 74-71 road victory at Abilene Christian last Saturday. They sit near the top of the conference standings. The Trailblazers (6-15, 2-9) are mired in a seven-game skid but are coming off a double-overtime battle in an 84-78 loss at Texas-Arlington on Feb. 5. California Baptist has won both meetings this season, 75-67 in St. George on Jan. 8 and 67-61 on Jan. 22. The Lancers have won five straight in the series. Khloe Lemon powers the Lancersā offense. The guard is averaging 17.3 points per game in conference play and is coming off a 25-point, 7-rebound performance in the win over Abilene Christian. She scored 16 points in the Jan. 22 win at Utah Tech. Utah Tech will rely on guard Chardonnay Hartley, who leads the WAC in assists at 5.5 per game. She nearly posted a double-double in the recent overtime loss, logging 47 minutes with 12 points and 9 assists. Supporting scorers Kaylee Borden (19 points) and Brie Crittendon (23 points) were key in that contest and will need similar production to challenge the Lancers. California Baptistās defense, allowing just 62.9 points per game in WAC play, will test a Utah Tech offense that has been held under 62 points in six consecutive games. The Lancers also boast the conferenceās top scoring margin in league games at plus-9.5. The game tips off at 2 p.m. PST at the CBU Events Center. California Baptist hosts Utah Valley next Wednesday, while Utah Tech returns home to face Texas-Arlington the same night.
