SAN ANTONIO (Interstat) â A surging South Florida womenâs basketball team looks to continue its climb in the American Athletic Conference standings when it visits Texas-San Antonio on Saturday for a Valentineâs Day rematch. The Bulls (15-10) have won three of their last four, including a 72-60 victory over Tulsa on Wednesday. They will face a UTSA squad (12-11) that is also coming off a win, having stifled Temple 52-43 on Tuesday behind a dominant performance from Cheyenne Rowe. The game tips off at 2 p.m. CST at the Convocation Center. South Florida, which sits three games above .500, has found momentum with improved offensive output, averaging 74 points over its last three wins. The Bulls defeated UTSA convincingly just over a month ago, 70-53 in Tampa on Jan. 13. A key figure for the Bulls is guard Katie Davidson, who is averaging 16.1 points per game over her last seven contests. She dropped 22 points in 35 minutes against Tulsa and has been a consistent scoring threat, logging 35 or more minutes in four of those outings. The Roadrunners will counter with their own standout in Rowe. The forward is coming off a career-high 26-point effort against Temple and has been a force, averaging over 17 points per game in February. Her inside presence and shot-blocking will be central to UTSAâs hopes of avenging Januaryâs loss. UTSA has shown resilience at home this season, including a tight 66-64 win over North Texas on Jan. 28. Containing Davidson and disrupting South Floridaâs rhythm will be paramount. For the Bulls, building on their recent defensive effortâholding opponents under 65 points in three of their last four winsâwill be the focus. Saturdayâs contest is the second of two regular-season meetings between the conference foes. With the AAC tournament on the horizon, both teams are jockeying for positioning, making this a critical late-season clash.
