Preview: Louisiana-Lafayette at South Alabama Women’s Basketball MOBILE, Ala. (Interstat) — The South Alabama Jaguars will look to snap a seven-game losing streak when they host the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in a Sun Belt Conference women’s basketball matchup on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at the Mitchell Center. South Alabama (9-14) last won on Jan. 10 but will face a struggling Louisiana-Lafayette (3-22) team that has lost 10 of its last 11 games. The Jaguars defeated the Ragin’ Cajuns 81-56 in Lafayette on Jan. 3 in the teams’ first meeting this season. A key matchup will feature two of the conference’s top scorers. Louisiana-Lafayette will rely on Imani Daniel, who is coming off a 24-point performance in a 71-55 loss at Troy on Thursday. Daniel has averaged 17.6 points over her last five games. South Alabama’s offense runs through guard Tamara Ortiz, who is averaging 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game during the Jaguars’ losing skid. She posted 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists in South Alabama’s most recent game, a 73-67 loss at Western Michigan on Feb. 7. The Ragin’ Cajuns are seeking their first road win of the season (0-12) and have lost by an average of 27.3 points in their last three away games. Their only victory since early January was an 82-71 non-conference win over Akron on Feb. 7, a game in which Daniel scored 21 points. South Alabama has shown an ability to score, averaging 67.3 points in its last three contests, but has struggled defensively, allowing 73.3 points per game during that stretch. The game is part of a critical late-season stretch for both teams as they prepare for the upcoming Sun Belt Conference tournament. Following this contest, South Alabama will travel to face Troy on Wednesday, while Louisiana-Lafayette will host Southern Mississippi.
