LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — A surging Central Arkansas team will look to extend its winning streak against a struggling Bellarmine squad when the ASUN Conference women’s basketball foes meet Saturday at Knights Hall. The Bears (15-10) enter on a four-game win streak, most recently defeating Eastern Kentucky 60-48 on the road Thursday. Guard Shae Littleford, the team’s consistent offensive catalyst, scored 18 points in that victory. Over her last eight games, Littleford is averaging 16.8 points and has scored in double figures each time, including a 25-point performance at North Florida last month. Central Arkansas’s defense has been the foundation of its recent success, holding opponents to an average of 48.5 points during the current streak. The Bears dominated the first meeting this season, routing Bellarmine 85-29 in Conway, Arkansas, on Jan. 8. Bellarmine (2-24) seeks to end a 12-game losing skid. The Knights are coming off a 74-44 home loss to Lipscomb on Thursday, where they were led by guard Kayce Hyman’s 13 points. Hyman has been a bright spot, averaging 13.4 points over her last eight contests despite the team’s difficulties. Bellarmine has lost 16 of its last 17 games, with its only two wins this season coming against Queens (N.C.) and West Georgia in December. The Knights have struggled offensively all season, failing to reach 50 points in 15 of their 26 games. They will need a significant defensive effort to contain Littleford and a Central Arkansas offense that has found its rhythm. Saturday’s matchup tips off at 2 p.m. EST. Central Arkansas will host Austin Peay next on Feb. 18, while Bellarmine will host North Alabama the same day.
