Preview: Tulsa Women’s Basketball at Florida Atlantic BOCA RATON, Fla. (Interstat) — The Tulsa Golden Hurricane visit the Florida Atlantic Owls in an American Athletic Conference women’s basketball matchup Saturday at FAU Gymnasium. Tulsa (16-8, 7-4 AAC) enters looking to rebound from a 72-60 loss at South Florida on Wednesday. The Golden Hurricane had won four of their previous five games prior to the setback. Florida Atlantic (11-13, 4-7) arrives with momentum after a 79-77 overtime road victory at Wichita State on Tuesday. The teams met less than three weeks ago in Tulsa, with the Golden Hurricane securing a decisive 77-58 win on Jan. 27. Tulsa guard Hannah Riddick scored 16 points in that contest. Riddick, a key player to watch for Tulsa, is averaging 17.4 points over her last seven games, including a 27-point performance in a win at Wichita State on Feb. 3. She scored 15 in the loss to South Florida. Florida Atlantic will counter with guard Erin Rodgers, who is coming off a strong stretch. Rodgers scored 24 points in the overtime win at Wichita State and had 25 in a victory over UAB on Feb. 7. However, she was held to just five points in the Jan. 27 loss at Tulsa. Tulsa’s offense, which averages 69.5 points per game, will test an FAU defense allowing 68.2 points per contest. The Golden Hurricane have shown resilience in close games, including a double-overtime win over Memphis on Jan. 31. The Owls have struggled for consistency but have shown flashes, including the recent road win and a one-point victory over South Florida on Jan. 24. Playing at home, where they are 7-5 this season, provides an opportunity to build on their latest result. Saturday’s game is part of a critical late-season stretch for both teams as they position themselves for the upcoming AAC tournament. Following this game, Tulsa hosts UAB on Feb. 20, while Florida Atlantic travels to East Carolina on Feb. 17. Tipoff is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
