Preview of Stonehill vs. Wagner Women’s Basketball NEW YORK (Interstat) — A tight Northeast Conference rematch is set for Saturday when the Wagner Seahawks host the Stonehill Skyhawks at Spiro Sports Center. Wagner (11-12) seeks a regular-season sweep after edging Stonehill (8-15) 62-59 on Jan. 4. The Seahawks have won three of their last five, including a 50-41 road victory at Central Connecticut last Saturday. Keana Foz led that effort with 18 points and four assists, highlighting a recent stretch where she has been a primary scoring option. Stonehill looks to snap a two-game skid and avenge the January loss. The Skyhawks are led by forward Julia Webster, who is coming off a 19-point, 9-rebound performance in a loss to Long Island on Feb. 7. Webster recorded a dominant 22-point, 15-rebound double-double in a win over Le Moyne on Jan. 31, underscoring her ability to control the paint. The matchup features contrasting trajectories within the conference. Wagner has found a rhythm with defensive efforts, holding three of its last five opponents under 55 points. Stonehill has struggled with consistency, particularly on the road, but possesses scoring threats in Webster and Ella Pelletier, who added 15 points and six rebounds in the last outing. Saturday’s game tips off at 1 p.m. EST. Following this contest, Wagner will host Mercyhurst on Feb. 19, while Stonehill returns home to face New Haven the same day.
