HEMPSTEAD, Texas (Interstat) — A surging Southern squad looks to continue its climb in the Southwestern Athletic Conference standings when it visits struggling Prairie View A&M in a women’s basketball matchup on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026. The Southern Lady Jaguars (12-11, 9-3 SWAC) enter on a strong run, having won seven of their last nine games. They are coming off a 66-54 road victory at Texas Southern on Thursday, led by 20 points from guard Olivia Delancy. Delancy has been a consistent offensive force, scoring in double figures in five of the last eight contests, including a 16-point performance in a win over Mississippi Valley State last month. Conversely, the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers (2-21, 1-11) have found wins scarce, mired in a 10-game losing streak. Their last victory came on Jan. 10 against Mississippi Valley State. Despite the team’s struggles, guard CJ Wilson has been a bright spot, averaging 15.1 points over her last seven games. She is coming off a season-high 24 points in a loss to Grambling on Thursday and recorded a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double against Texas Southern on Jan. 31. The teams met earlier this season on Jan. 1 in Baton Rouge, with Southern securing a 70-55 victory. The Lady Jaguars have dominated the recent series, winning the last five head-to-head meetings. Southern, currently tied for second in the SWAC, will aim to avoid a letdown against the last-place Lady Panthers. Prairie View, which has lost its last five home games by an average of 18.4 points, seeks a defensive resurgence to slow Delancy and snap its prolonged skid. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CST at the William Nicks Building. Southern visits Grambling on Feb. 21, while Prairie View hosts Mississippi Valley State on Feb. 19.
