Preview: San Jose State at Air Force Womenās Basketball AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (Interstat) ā The Air Force Falcons will look to improve their position in the Mountain West standings when they host the struggling San Jose State Spartans in a womenās basketball matchup Saturday at Clune Arena. The Falcons (11-13 overall) enter the contest looking to rebound from a 76-59 road loss at Nevada on Wednesday. Air Force had won three of its previous four games prior to that defeat, showcasing improved form in conference play. San Jose State (3-22) seeks to end a prolonged slump, having lost 10 of its last 11 games. The Spartans are coming off a 66-61 loss at New Mexico on Wednesday, a game in which they kept it close but ultimately fell short. A key matchup will feature two of the conferenceās top guards. Air Force is led by junior Milahnie Perry, who is averaging 21.3 points over her last four games, including a 27-point performance in a win at Fresno State on Jan. 31. She scored 20 in the loss to Nevada. San Jose State will counter with sophomore Maya Anderson, who has been a consistent bright spot. Anderson has scored in double figures in seven consecutive games, averaging 14.3 points during that stretch. She tallied 16 points in both of the Spartansā games last week. The Falcons won the first meeting this season decisively, 76-57, in San Jose on Jan. 10. In that game, Air Force forced 22 Spartan turnovers and held San Jose State to 32.8% shooting from the field. For Air Force, maintaining its defensive pressure will be critical to securing a season sweep. For San Jose State, finding secondary scoring behind Anderson and limiting turnovers are paramount to pulling off a road upset. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. MST tip-off on Saturday, Feb. 14.
