Preview: Southeastern Louisiana at Northwestern State NATCHITOCHES, La. (Interstat) — The Northwestern State women’s basketball team will look to halt a three-game skid when it hosts Southland Conference rival Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday at Prather Coliseum. The Demons (11-12) have dropped consecutive games to Lamar, Texas A&M-Commerce and McNeese State after a promising 2-0 start to their league home schedule. Guard Nya Valentine has been a consistent bright spot, averaging 14.2 points over her last five contests. She posted a 22-point, 11-assist double-double in a win at New Orleans on Jan. 31. They face a Southeastern Louisiana squad (4-19) seeking its first road victory of the season. The Lions have lost 10 straight away from home and are coming off a 57-66 loss at Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday. Despite the team’s struggles, Lions guard Aliyah Collins has emerged as a dynamic offensive threat. She is averaging 16.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds over her last three games, including a 21-point, 7-assist performance in the loss to Commerce. Northwestern State won the first meeting this season, 69-52, in Hammond on Dec. 7. The Demons will aim to leverage their home court, where they are 7-4 this season, to separate themselves in the mid-table conference standings. The Lions, anchored by Collins, will look to disrupt that plan and find a rare win away from home. Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.
