RENO, Nev. (Interstat) — A surging San Diego State women’s basketball team looks to continue its march toward a Mountain West title when it visits struggling Nevada on Saturday. The Aztecs (19-4, 9-1 MW), who sit atop the conference standings, bring a three-game winning streak into Lawlor Events Center. They edged Colorado State 64-61 on Wednesday behind 14 points from guard Nala Williams. San Diego State’s defense has been a cornerstone, holding opponents to an average of 57.2 points in conference play. Nevada (8-16, 3-8) snapped a seven-game skid with a 76-59 home victory over Air Force on the same afternoon, led by Izzy Sullivan’s 17 points. The win provided a rare bright spot in a difficult season for the Wolf Pack. The matchup is a rematch of a Jan. 31 meeting in San Diego, which the Aztecs won 67-54. Williams scored 11 points in that contest, while Sullivan paced Nevada with 12. Williams, a dynamic guard for the Aztecs, enters as a key player to watch. She is coming off a 20-point, 10-assist performance against San Jose State on Jan. 24 and has been a consistent contributor on both ends of the floor. For the Wolf Pack, Sullivan remains the offensive catalyst, averaging 12.4 points in conference games. San Diego State has dominated the recent series, winning the last five meetings. Nevada’s last win over the Aztecs came on Feb. 16, 2022. The Aztecs’ success has been built on balance and defensive pressure, while Nevada has struggled with consistency, particularly on offense, where they average a league-low 57.8 points in MW games. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. PST on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026. Following this game, San Diego State will host UNLV on Feb. 18, while Nevada will travel to face Colorado State on the same date.
