SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — Two West Coast Conference teams jockeying for position in the league standings will meet Saturday when the Pepperdine Waves visit the San Francisco Dons in a women’s basketball matchup. The game, scheduled for Feb. 14, 2026, at War Memorial Gymnasium, features teams with nearly identical records. Pepperdine (15-9 overall) enters with a slight edge over San Francisco (14-10), making the contest pivotal for postseason seeding. The Waves are riding a four-game winning streak, most recently defeating Washington State 78-62 on Feb. 7. Forward Shorna Preston has been a key catalyst during that run, posting a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds against the Cougars. In a narrow road win at Santa Clara on Jan. 31, Preston neared a triple-double with 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists. San Francisco looks to rebound from a 72-55 home loss to Saint Mary’s on Feb. 7. The Dons’ offense flows through guard Candy Edokpaigbe, who has been a consistent high-volume scorer. She poured in 24 points in a road win at Seattle on Feb. 5 and had 23 points in a victory over Pacific on Jan. 24. Containing Edokpaigbe will be a primary focus for the Waves’ defense. Pepperdine’s recent success has been bolstered by balanced contributions. Alongside Preston, Lina Falk scored 19 points and Taija Sta Maria added 14 points and six assists in the win over Washington State. San Francisco holds a recent head-to-head advantage, having defeated Washington State 85-72 on the road in January. Pepperdine beat that same Cougars team handily at home, setting up an intriguing clash of styles. The Dons will aim to protect their home court and split the season series with conference rivals, while the Waves seek to extend their win streak and solidify their standing above .500 in WCC play. Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon in San Francisco.
