STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — The Oregon State Beavers look to halt a three-game skid when they visit the Pacific Tigers in a West Coast Conference women’s basketball matchup Saturday at A.C. Spanos Center. Oregon State (17-9) enters the contest after a 70-83 home loss to Santa Clara on Thursday, part of a difficult stretch following a six-game win streak in January. The Beavers previously defeated Pacific 81-61 in Corvallis on Jan. 2. Pacific (10-14) arrives with momentum after a 56-53 road victory over Saint Mary’s on Thursday. The Tigers have shown resilience, alternating wins and losses over their past five games. A key matchup will feature Oregon State guard Kennedie Shuler against Pacific’s Daria Nestorov. Shuler, the Beavers’ dynamic playmaker, is coming off a 13-point, 9-assist performance against Santa Clara and has averaged 18.4 points and 5.6 assists over her last seven games. She scored 17 points with nine assists in the January win over Pacific. Nestorov orchestrates the Tigers’ offense, averaging 9.4 points and 5.9 assists per game. She tallied 17 points and six assists in the win over Saint Mary’s and will be central to Pacific’s efforts to control the tempo. Oregon State’s recent struggles have been marked by offensive inconsistency, scoring 50 and 37 points in losses to Portland and Gonzaga, respectively, before the higher-scoring defeat to Santa Clara. Pacific’s defense, which allows an average of 67.2 points per game, will aim to extend those struggles. The Tigers have found offensive success at home, notably in a 90-82 win over Santa Clara on Feb. 5. Containing Shuler’s penetration and distribution will be paramount for a Pacific team seeking to improve its standing and avenge its earlier loss. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. PST on Saturday, Feb. 14.
