Preview: Missouri State Lady Bears at No. -- Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters RUSTON, La. (Interstat) — A key Conference USA women’s basketball rematch is set for Saturday when the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters host the Missouri State Lady Bears at the Thomas Assembly Center. Louisiana Tech (18-5, 9-1 CUSA), riding a seven-game winning streak, looks to solidify its position atop the conference standings. The Lady Techsters won the first meeting 60-51 in Springfield on Jan. 22, part of a dominant run where they have won 12 of their last 13 games. Missouri State (15-9, 6-4) aims to halt that streak and avenge the earlier loss, but enters following a 74-67 road loss at Sam Houston on Thursday. The Lady Bears had won two straight prior to that defeat. The matchup features a compelling individual duel. Missouri State guard Kaemyn Bekemeier, who was held to seven points in the first meeting, has been on a scoring tear since. Over her last five games, she is averaging 21.4 points, including a 25-point effort against Middle Tennessee and a 21-point performance in the loss to Sam Houston. Louisiana Tech counters with balance and depth, led by forward Jordan Marshall. In the Jan. 22 victory, Marshall contributed nine points. She is coming off a 13-point game in a 71-49 rout of Florida International on Thursday. The Lady Techsters’ defense, which allows just 56.2 points per game, will again focus on containing Bekemeier. Missouri State’s recent results have been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses over their past six contests. To challenge the conference leaders on the road, they will need more offensive support beyond Bekemeier. Lainie Douglas (14 points) and Faith Lee (13 points) provided that against Sam Houston. Louisiana Tech has been consistently formidable, winning its last three games by an average margin of 28.3 points. Their defense has held opponents under 60 points in nine of their 18 wins. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. CST on Saturday, Feb. 14. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Up Next: Missouri State hosts Liberty on Thursday, Feb. 19. Louisiana Tech begins a two-game road swing at Jacksonville State on the same date.
