COMMERCE, Texas (Interstat) — A surging McNeese State team riding a 10-game winning streak will face a Texas A&M-Commerce squad finding its footing in Southland Conference play when the two meet in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball game Saturday. The matchup at Texas A&M-Commerce Field House pits the conference-leading Cowgirls (21-4) against the Lions (12-10). McNeese State has been dominant, winning its last 10 contests by an average margin of 23.2 points. That run includes a 64-59 road victory at Northwestern State on Thursday, led by 15 points from guard Arianna Patton. Patton has been a consistent offensive force for the Cowgirls, scoring in double figures in eight of her last nine games. She poured in 23 points in just 20 minutes in an 83-35 rout of Houston Christian on Feb. 5. Texas A&M-Commerce has won four of its last five, including a 66-57 home win over Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday. Forward Tiani Ellison powered that victory with 22 points and two blocks. Ellison has been a standout during the Lions’ recent surge, averaging 17.3 points over her last four games and posting a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds against Nicholls State on Jan. 31. The Lions will seek to avenge a 71-45 loss at McNeese State on Dec. 12, 2025. In that game, the Cowgirls’ defense stifled Commerce, holding them to 29.6% shooting from the field. McNeese State’s defense has been a hallmark of its season, leading the Southland in scoring defense. Texas A&M-Commerce will counter with an offense that has scored 65 or more points in each of its last five wins. Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, in Commerce.
