BOONE, N.C. (Interstat) — Sun Belt Conference rivals Georgia State and Appalachian State will meet for the second time this season on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at the Holmes Center, with both teams seeking momentum in the closing stretch of the women’s basketball season. The Mountaineers (10-14 overall) will host the Panthers (9-16) in a rematch of a Jan. 17 game in Atlanta, which Georgia State dominated 79-57. That result is a focal point for Appalachian State, which has lost four of its last five games, including a 60-53 home loss to James Madison on Wednesday. Georgia State arrives having lost six of its last seven, most recently falling 71-56 at Marshall on Thursday. In that game, guard Grace Lanier led the Panthers with 16 points and four assists in 34 minutes. Lanier’s production has fluctuated; she scored just four points in 19 minutes in a loss to Louisiana-Monroe on Feb. 4 but had a team-high 16 against Marshall. She played only nine minutes in the first matchup with Appalachian State, scoring four points. Appalachian State will look to guard Emma Smith to fuel its offense. Smith scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds in the loss at Georgia State last month. She is coming off a 13-point performance in 37 minutes against James Madison and has been a consistent scoring threat, reaching double figures in five of her last eight games. Both teams are near the bottom of the conference standings and view this game as a critical opportunity to build confidence. The Panthers have struggled on the road, while the Mountaineers aim to protect their home court and avenge January’s lopsided defeat. The game tips off at 2 p.m. EST Saturday in Boone. Following this contest, Appalachian State travels to face Coastal Carolina on Feb. 18, while Georgia State hosts Old Dominion on Feb. 19.
