GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — A key Southern Conference women’s basketball matchup with postseason implications is set for Saturday when the Furman Paladins visit the UNC Greensboro Spartans at Greensboro Coliseum. The Paladins (15-10) enter on a winning note after a 60-51 victory at Western Carolina on Thursday, powered by 20 points from Alyssa Ervin. Furman has won four of its last six games. UNC Greensboro (13-12) looks to rebound from a 51-38 home loss to Wofford on the same afternoon, a game in which the Spartans struggled offensively. This is the second meeting between the teams this season. On Jan. 15, Furman secured a 69-56 home win over UNCG. The Paladins will aim for the regular-season sweep. A player to watch for Furman is guard Raina McGowens, who has been a consistent contributor. Over her last seven games, she has averaged 8.1 points and 3.1 rebounds, including a 12-point performance in a win over Western Carolina last month. For the Spartans, guard Makiah Asidanya has been a bright spot during a recent skid, averaging 8.7 points over her last seven contests. She scored 14 points in the Jan. 22 loss to Chattanooga. Both teams are jockeying for position in the conference standings with the regular season winding down. Furman’s offense, which put up 106 points in a nonconference game earlier this month, will test a UNCG defense that has held opponents under 60 points in several recent outings. The game tips off at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026. Furman visits Samford on Feb. 19, while UNC Greensboro travels to East Tennessee State the same day.
