HIGH POINT, N.C. (Interstat) — The High Point Panthers will look to rebound from a rare conference loss when they host the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in a Big South women’s basketball matchup Saturday at Qubein Arena. The Panthers (21-4), who sit atop the conference standings, saw a lengthy win streak snapped in a 75-73 overtime loss to Longwood on Wednesday. High Point had previously won 10 of its last 11, with the only other blemish in that span a 72-57 loss at Radford on Feb. 7. Prior to the Longwood defeat, the Panthers had dominated league play, winning their previous five conference games by an average of 25.2 points. That stretch included an 87-66 victory at Charleston Southern on Jan. 28. High Point guard Aaliyah Collins, a key player to watch, had 8 points and 4 assists in that contest. She is coming off a career performance, logging 44 minutes and scoring 24 points with 6 assists in the overtime loss to Longwood. Charleston Southern (8-17) enters on a two-game skid, including a 56-44 loss at Gardner-Webb on Wednesday. The Buccaneers’ season has been marked by inconsistency, though they have shown offensive sparks, such as an 88-62 win over Presbyterian on Feb. 7. The Buccaneers will rely heavily on standout guard Tyonna Bailey, who leads the team and is one of the conference’s top scorers. Bailey torched High Point for 25 points in the first meeting and is averaging 24.3 points over her last four games. Her recent run includes a 26-point, 13-rebound effort in the win over Presbyterian. For High Point, containing Bailey will be a primary focus as they aim to reassert their defensive identity. The Panthers held Charleston Southern to 34.8% shooting in the January win. High Point’s balance, with contributors like Chana Paxixe and Macy Spencer supporting Collins, has been a strength all season. The rematch tips off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026. High Point will travel to UNC Asheville on Wednesday, while Charleston Southern hosts Radford on Feb. 21.
