LEWISBURG, Pa. (Interstat) — Two Patriot League women’s basketball teams seeking to halt slides will meet Saturday when Bucknell hosts Boston University at Sojka Pavilion. The Bison (8-15) and Terriers (7-17) enter the Valentine’s Day matinee on losing streaks, with both looking to replicate their performances from a meeting just two weeks ago. On Jan. 31 in Boston, Bucknell secured a 62-51 road victory, holding Boston University to 32.8% shooting from the field. Bucknell has lost two of three since that win, most recently a 66-43 defeat at Navy on Wednesday. In that game, guard Mariah Hardy led the Bison with 14 points. Hardy, a player to watch, has been a consistent contributor, scoring in double figures in three of her last six outings and dishing five assists in a Jan. 28 loss at Lafayette. Boston University has lost six straight, including a 69-62 home loss to Army on Wednesday. In that contest, guard Inés Monteagudo scored a team-high 15 points. Monteagudo, the Terriers’ key player, has shown scoring bursts recently, including a 12-point, five-assist effort in a narrow loss to Loyola Maryland last month. She was held to six points in the first matchup against Bucknell. The game features two of the lower-scoring offenses in the Patriot League. Bucknell averages 52.7 points per game in conference play, while Boston University averages 54.6. Defense and rebounding will likely be pivotal; the Bison outrebounded the Terriers 42-33 in their January win. Saturday’s contest is the backend of a regular-season series split between the campuses. Following this game, Bucknell visits American on Wednesday, while Boston University travels to face Colgate. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST at Sojka Pavilion.
