BOSLER, Wyo. (Interstat) — The Boise State Broncos look to rebound from a rare conference loss when they visit the Wyoming Cowgirls in a Mountain West women’s basketball matchup Saturday at Arena-Auditorium. The Broncos (19-6), who fell 75-69 at Fresno State on Wednesday, had their seven-game win streak snapped. They remain near the top of the conference standings and will be heavily favored against a Wyoming squad (9-15) that has struggled for consistency. Boise State dominated the first meeting this season, routing Wyoming 77-40 in Boise on Jan. 14. The Broncos have won five of their last six games overall, with their defense holding opponents to an average of 56.2 points during that stretch prior to the Fresno State game. A key for the Broncos is guard Natalie Pasco, who scored 19 points in the loss to Fresno State. Over her last eight games, Pasco is averaging 13.4 points and has been a steady offensive force. Wyoming, however, arrives with momentum after a surprising 82-72 road victory at UNLV on Wednesday. The Cowgirls were led by a career-high 25 points from guard Henna Sandvik, who also added three assists and two blocks. Sandvik’s scoring outburst marked a significant jump for a player averaging 9.1 points per game this season. The Cowgirls will need a similar performance from Sandvik and efficient offense to challenge a stout Boise State defense. Wyoming has lost four of its last six games, with the win over UNLV serving as a notable bright spot. Historically, the Broncos have controlled this series, winning the last five meetings by an average margin of 24.6 points. The game tips off at 2 p.m. local time on Saturday, Feb. 14. For Boise State, the contest is a chance to regain footing before a pivotal stretch run. For Wyoming, it represents an opportunity to build on a major road win and spring a significant home upset against a conference powerhouse.
