Preview: Bowling Green Falcons at Ball State Cardinals MUNCIE, Ind. (Interstat) ā A surging Ball State team will look to continue its dominant run in Mid-American Conference play when it hosts a struggling Bowling Green squad on Saturday at Worthen Arena. The Cardinals (20-5) enter the matchup as one of the conferenceās hottest teams, having won seven of their last eight games. Their offense has been particularly potent, scoring 83 points or more in four of those victories. Ball Stateās most recent outing was an 83-68 road win at Eastern Michigan on Tuesday. Ball State is led by standout guard Bree Salenbien, who is coming off a 22-point performance against Eastern Michigan. Over her last five games, Salenbien has averaged 17.2 points and 4.6 assists, including a 24-point, 10-assist double-double in a 101-91 win at Kent State on Feb. 1. The visiting Falcons (13-11) have been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses over their past seven games. They are coming off a 72-61 home victory over Buffalo on Tuesday, which snapped a two-game skid. Guard Paige Kohler fueled that win with a game-high 26 points. Kohler has been Bowling Greenās primary offensive threat, scoring 20 or more points in three of her last seven contests. However, Bowling Green has found wins hard to secure on the road in conference play, which does not bode well against a Ball State team that is 10-1 at home this season. The Falconsā recent road losses include defeats at Kent State, Toledo and Massachusetts. The Cardinals won the first meeting this season decisively, 103-61, in Bowling Green on Jan. 14. Salenbien scored 21 points in that contest. Saturdayās game tips off at 2 p.m. EST and will be a key matchup for MAC standings positioning as the regular season enters its final weeks. Ball State will aim to solidify its hold on a top seed, while Bowling Green seeks a crucial road upset to improve its tournament seeding.
