HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Interstat) — A pivotal Sun Belt Conference women’s basketball clash is set for Saturday when the Marshall Thundering Herd hosts the Arkansas State Red Wolves at Cam Henderson Center. Both teams enter with nearly identical sterling records. Marshall is 21-6 overall, while Arkansas State is 20-6. The matchup features two of the league’s top players in contrasting roles. Marshall is powered by the high-scoring guard Timaya Lewis-Eutsey, who is in the midst of a spectacular offensive run. She is averaging 25.6 points over her last seven games, including a 36-point outburst in an 88-81 win at Central Michigan on Feb. 7. In the Thundering Herd’s most recent game, a 71-56 home win over Georgia State on Thursday, Lewis-Eutsey led all scorers with 19 points. Arkansas State counters with the defensive and rebounding presence of forward Wynter Rogers. While not a volume scorer, Rogers has been a consistent force on the glass and as a shot-blocker. She grabbed eight rebounds in the Red Wolves’ last outing, a 60-69 road loss at Georgia Southern on Wednesday. In a six-game winning streak earlier this month, Rogers averaged 7.7 points and 7.2 rebounds. The Red Wolves will look to bounce back from that midweek defeat, which snapped a seven-game win streak. Prior to the loss, Arkansas State’s last defeat was a 73-76 overtime road loss at Eastern Michigan on Feb. 7. Marshall has won five of its last six, with the lone blemish an 82-85 home loss to Troy on Jan. 28. In that game, Lewis-Eutsey posted 33 points and 10 assists. The game promises to be a contrast in styles, with Arkansas State seeking to control the paint and tempo, while Marshall will rely on the dynamic playmaking of its star guard. The outcome will have significant implications for conference tournament seeding as the regular season enters its final weeks. Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.
