WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (Interstat) — A key Coastal Athletic Association women’s basketball rematch awaits Friday when the Monmouth Hawks host the Stony Brook Seawolves at the Multipurpose Activity Center. The matchup comes just 12 days after the teams met on Long Island, where Stony Brook (13-10) secured a 61-51 victory over Monmouth (16-7) on Feb. 1. That result snapped a three-game winning streak for the Hawks and will provide motivation for the home side. Monmouth enters with the superior overall record and is fresh off a gritty 62-60 double-overtime road win at Drexel on Feb. 8. Divine Dibula powered that effort with a dominant 24-point, 15-rebound performance. The forward has been a consistent force, scoring 15 points in the earlier loss to Stony Brook. The Seawolves have won three straight, including their most recent 64-55 victory over Northeastern on Feb. 6. Guard Sandra Frau-Garcia orchestrates their attack, averaging 8.8 points and 5.8 assists over her last six games. Her versatile playmaking was on full display in the Jan. 18 win over Towson, where she posted a near triple-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Stony Brook’s recent success has been built on defense, holding opponents to 55 points or fewer in four of their last five wins. Containing Dibula inside will be a primary focus. For Monmouth, protecting home court is crucial as they seek to improve their conference standing and avenge this month’s earlier defeat. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13.
