WILMINGTON, N.C. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum will meet Friday when the North Carolina A&T Aggies visit the UNC Wilmington Seahawks in a women’s NCAA Division I basketball matchup at Trask Coliseum. The Aggies (9-13) enter having lost three of their last four, including a 46-54 defeat at Campbell on Feb. 8. The Seahawks (5-17) are mired in a seven-game losing streak, most recently an 61-81 loss at College of Charleston on Feb. 6. North Carolina A&T will rely on guard Paris Locke, who has been a consistent performer. Over her last seven games, Locke is averaging 12.1 points, 4.4 assists and 5.1 rebounds per contest. She nearly posted a double-double in the loss to Campbell with 10 rebounds and seven points. UNC Wilmington’s offense will run through guard Mary Ferrito, who is coming off a season-high 23-point effort in the loss to College of Charleston. Her production has been variable, but she averages 34 minutes per game and is a focal point for the Seahawks’ attack. In their last outing, the Aggies saw contributions beyond Locke, with Chaniya Clark scoring 14 points and Darrionna Howard adding 10. The Seahawks, meanwhile, had Kylah Silver (16 points) and Rori Cox (13 points) support Ferrito’s 23-point performance. The game represents a chance for both squads to stabilize their seasons. North Carolina A&T has shown an ability to win close games, with a 2OT road victory at Northeastern and a tight win over Hampton in recent weeks. UNC Wilmington’s last win was a 69-67 victory over Northeastern on Jan. 2. Following this contest, North Carolina A&T will host Hofstra on Sunday. UNC Wilmington will remain home to face Campbell on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13.
