Preview: Harvard Looks to Extend Win Streak Against Struggling Yale NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — The Harvard women’s basketball team aims to continue its dominant Ivy League run when it visits rival Yale on Friday night at Payne Whitney Gymnasium. The Crimson (13-8, 6-1 Ivy) have won five straight conference games, including a commanding 72-44 victory over Yale just two weeks ago on Jan. 30. Harvard is coming off a 75-35 rout of Dartmouth last Saturday where Aubrey Shaw scored 15 points and Karlee White added 12. White, a standout guard, has been pivotal during Harvard’s surge. She averaged 18.2 points over her last six games, including a 27-point, 10-rebound performance in a narrow overtime loss to Princeton on Jan. 19. In the previous meeting with Yale, White scored 19 points in 26 minutes. The Bulldogs (5-16, 1-6) have lost six of their last seven, with their lone win in that span a 58-43 victory at Cornell on Jan. 19. Guard Ciniya Moore has been a consistent bright spot, scoring in double figures in 10 consecutive games. She had 16 points in the loss at Harvard and followed with 17 at Dartmouth and 15 at Brown last Saturday, where Mary Meng grabbed 12 rebounds. Yale’s offense has struggled, failing to reach 60 points in any of its last five games. Defense will be a primary concern against a Harvard team that has won its last three games by an average of 33.7 points. The Crimson, currently second in the Ivy League standings, have shown balance. In their recent win over Dartmouth, nine players scored at least five points. Friday’s contest is the first of a back-to-back Ivy weekend for both teams. Harvard visits Brown on Saturday, while Yale hosts Dartmouth. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
