PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Interstat) â The Brown womenâs basketball team will look to complete a regular-season sweep and solidify its position in the Ivy League standings when it hosts Dartmouth on Friday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Bears (13-7) enter the contest having won five of their last seven games, including a convincing 66-52 victory over Yale last Saturday. Brownâs defense has been a cornerstone, holding opponents to an average of 54.3 points over that stretch. In the teamsâ first meeting just two weeks ago on Jan. 30, Brown stifled Dartmouth in a 55-41 road win. Olivia Young has been a consistent contributor for Brown. She is coming off a strong performance against Yale with 12 points and seven rebounds. Grace Arnolie, who erupted for 22 points in that game, and Alyssa Moreland, who posted a double-double, provide additional offensive firepower for the Bears. Dartmouth (10-11) seeks to halt a two-game skid and avenge its earlier loss to Brown. The Big Green are coming off a difficult 75-35 defeat at Harvard last Saturday, a game in which they struggled offensively. Senior guard Alexandra Eldredge will be a key figure for Dartmouth, having logged significant minutes all season. She scored 10 points in the loss to Harvard and had a season-high 16 points, six rebounds and four assists in a narrow loss at Penn on Jan. 19. The matchup pits Brownâs formidable defense against a Dartmouth squad searching for scoring consistency. Since the calendar turned to Ivy League play, the Big Green have been held under 60 points in seven of nine conference games. Following Fridayâs contest, both teams face quick turnarounds for crucial Saturday matchups. Dartmouth will travel to face Yale, while Brown remains at home to host first-place Harvard. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
