HARTFORD, Conn. (Interstat) — The undefeated and top-ranked Connecticut Huskies host the Creighton Bluejays in a Big East women’s basketball matchup Friday at XL Center, looking to continue a season of dominance. UConn (25-0, 12-0 Big East) has steamrolled its competition, winning by an average margin of 42.2 points in conference play. The Huskies have not been challenged since nonconference play, with their last single-digit victory coming on Dec. 5. They are coming off an 80-48 win over Butler on Feb. 7, where Allie Ziebell scored 11 points. The freshman guard is a key contributor, coming off a 34-point performance against Xavier on Jan. 28. Creighton (12-12, 7-6) arrives with momentum, having won four of its last five games, including an 80-74 overtime victory against Marquette on Sunday. The Bluejays are led by forward Grace Boffeli, who posted a career-high 23 points and 14 rebounds in that win. Boffeli has recorded a double-double in two of her last five games. However, history heavily favors the Huskies. UConn defeated Creighton 95-54 on Jan. 11 in Omaha, and just two days ago, on Feb. 11, secured a 23-16 victory in a previously unreported contest. Containing UConn’s balanced attack, which features Ziebell, Azzi Fudd and Serah Williams, presents a monumental task for the Bluejays. The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST Friday. UConn’s next game is at Marquette on Saturday. Creighton returns home to face Villanova on Sunday.
