SAN ANTONIO (Interstat) — The Incarnate Word Cardinals will look to halt a three-game skid when they host the struggling New Orleans Privateers in a Southland Conference women’s basketball matchup on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026. The game at McDermott Convocation Center pits two teams heading in opposite directions within the league standings. Incarnate Word (10-12, 5-6 Southland) seeks to regain its footing after recent losses to McNeese State, Southeastern Louisiana and Texas-Rio Grande Valley in overtime. The Cardinals had previously won four straight conference games. New Orleans (2-21, 2-9) arrives having lost 10 of its last 11, including a 71-53 defeat to Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Saturday. The Privateers’ only win in that stretch was a 64-58 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Feb. 5. Incarnate Word won the season’s first meeting, 79-68, in New Orleans on Dec. 18. A key matchup will feature two of the conference’s top guards. The Privateers are led by Shanihya Brown, who is coming off an 18-point, 4-rebound performance in the loss to UTRGV. Over her last eight games, Brown has averaged 11.4 points and 3.1 assists. For the Cardinals, Jorja Elliott has been a consistent force, averaging 15.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over her last eight contests. She recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in the overtime loss to UTRGV on Jan. 31. Incarnate Word’s offense, which averages 68.2 points per game in conference play, will be favored against a New Orleans defense allowing a conference-worst 78.5 points per game in Southland action. The Privateers also rank last in scoring offense at 57.8 points per game. The Cardinals will aim to exploit their home court advantage, where they are 6-4 this season, while New Orleans searches for its first true road win (0-11). Following this game, Incarnate Word hosts Nicholls State on Saturday. New Orleans travels to face Houston Christian on Valentine’s Day.
